  • The statistics say it all, Pakistan's educational indicators rank among the lowest in South Asia
  • 8 MILLION Children between the ages of 5-9 have never attended school
  • Nearly 45% of children who enroll in primary school drop out before completing first grade
  • Only 29% of children make it to secondary school level
  • Total education budget for 2002 was 2% of the GDP

Although successive governments have announced various educational reforms, a mixture of political, social and cultural obstacles have undermined the reform process. It is however encouraging that now government is demonstrating a strong commitment towards spreading quality education at the grass roots level. These efforts must be complemented by the work of NGOs and other charitable institutions.

Vision:
Taaleem for All Trust (TFA) takes its raison d’eter from the current dismal state of education sector in Pakistan. The Trust aims to have a very wide scope of activities which would comprise of continuous comprehensive campaigns for social improvement through public awareness. It would specifically strive for the accelerated spread of primary education in Pakistan

Mission:

  • To increase Pakistan's literacy rate through the concept of non-formal schools and Literacy Centers
  • To bring qualitative improvement in teaching methodology and to foster a spirit of missionary zeal in teachers through extensive on-the-job training
  • To provide state-of-the-art facilities of modern learning to talented but disadvantaged children and enable them to achieve their highest intellectual, physical, social, and emotional potential
  • To enhance the earning capacity of poor communities by teaching useful skills and trades, fostering self-reliance and self-esteem
  • To enhance public awareness regarding issues such as science & technology, environment, health & hygiene, family planning, and human rights
