Taaleem for All Trust realizes its national responsibility towards educating the underprivileged masses at the grass root level. Its strategy rests mainly on the National Plan of Action on Education for All (2001-2015). We envisage developing a network of non-formal schools providing basic education in remote and backward areas where regular primary schools are not available. This educational movement will be supplemented with a nation wide media campaign so that the masses and notables of this country come forward and join hands against illiteracy.
ESRA (Education Sector Reform Assistance Program) is designed to support the overall work of education by providing grants to local and national organizations, including NGOs and CBOs, for large scale as well as for grass-roots initiative. The program is being implemented by a consortium of international and national partners under the aegis of the “Research Triangle Institute” of North Carolina, USA.
Taaleem for All Trust has sought assistance from ESRA Grants Program for its nation wide media campaign. ESRA has agreed to provide 25% (Pak Rs.1 million) costs of a new song by Mr. Jawad Ahmad about the importance of female education. The song will help people realize the integral role female education plays in the development of a nation. It will also bring the present state of female deprivation and dejection into lime light and will motivate masses into devoting their time and energy towards the goal of spread of female education.
The Grant Award Ceremony was organized by ESRA in Islamabad. ESRA had invited 51 NGOs from all over Pakistan for their Phase II grants. Taaleem for All Trust was represented by its Manager, Project Development, Mr. Hamid Masood.
The Grant Award Ceremony was jointly presided over by Dr. Sarah E. Wright of USAID and Dr. Hank F. Healy of RTI/ESRA. Speaking at the occasion Dr. Sarah E. Wright expressed the commitment of USAID to work for the social uplift of the masses of Pakistan through sustainable efforts in the education sector. |
