The physical landscape, population distribution and lack of resources in the country have made it difficult for conventional education systems to reach every segment of the population. Often, the establishment of formal schools in disadvantaged, thinly populated and remote areas of the country is not viable. As the report on "Human Development in South Asia” points out, any accelerated plan to extend universal primary education in Pakistan will not be successful unless there is a major emphasis on non-formal education.
|
TFA has introduced a new Non-Formal School System, in which it runs 1 school, with 1 teacher and 35 students. Teachers are selected from the same locality where the schools are established. Being a more convenient, cost effective and simple method, Non-Formal School System can be established in a make shift room or even in an open space.
Seven Steps to Build a School
- Identifying areas for building of schools
- Identifying Teachers from the same areas
- Teacher's Training
- Building new schools for the under privileged children
- Identifying the children
- Providing books and stationery material to the under privileged children
- Free education to be provided to these under privileged children
Activities
- Establishment of formal and non-formal schools for the children
- Smooth running of these schools, after establishment, in the under privileged areas
